Part of the expanding (five locations) local chain of popular restaurants, the new dear Springs location of Taqueria La Ventana is off to a great start! The menu is classic taqueria: delicious meat and veggie options for tacos, burritos and bowls. They also offer Mexican craft beers, tasty (and cheap!) margaritas and – OMG! – house-made churros! Bonus: the patio is dog friendly!
“La Ventana” is Spanish for “the window,” and refers to the way traditional Mexican street tacos are ordered and served: through a window in a booth or food truck. Not so at this location, as this location has been a small restaurant for years. Here, you order at a counter indoors and pick up a bit further down.
I’m a carnivore, so the meat choices (Bistek, Pollo, Pastor, Carnitas, Camaron, Lengua, Barbacoa and Suadero) made me very happy, even as they made my decision more complicated!
This location is open late on Saturday and Sunday, so patrons of the nearby bars will have a convenient place to nosh after an evening of partying. Breakfast tacos and quesadillas are served all day, too!
