Breadwinners Café

I was recently facing foot surgery and could not leave my home for 7 weeks. I’d been wanting to try this beautiful restaurant; whose parking lot was always full. So, I managed to get there while I could enjoy it. I’m so glad, because it was a lovely memory and something to look forward to while healing.

A lovely Saturday afternoon, but no waiting line. The building is much bigger than it appears. Interior Décor is upper-middle class, living room and ambiance is quiet and friendly. There are multiple dining rooms and the manager, Ashley, said they can be reserved with a 24-hour notice. I’d call much sooner than that for a holiday season.
A wide variety of food is offered as they have four different menus. The restaurant takes up half the building and is connected to a bar, Quarter, which fills the other half. Quarter has its own pub style menu, and you can order from either business, no matter where you are seated.

When our server brought our initial drink order, it was accompanied by three generous slices of zucchini bread, as complimentary teaser. Incredible moistness with a crunchy top, made it hard not to ruin our dinner. So amazing.

I ordered a Vegetarian Benedict, off the Brunch menu. Two over easy eggs, with Hollandaise sauce, was jazzed up with asparagus, spinach, artichoke heart and broccoli on a toasted English muffin. This fantastic concoction came with brunch fries, jacketed new potatoes, small cut, crispy on outside, and flavorful on the insides. I would probably never have put these items together, but they blended beautifully.

My husband had the San Francisco Cobb, with field greens, Bacon, grilled chicken, hard-boiled egg, tomato, avocado, blue cheese crumbles, and bleu cheese dressing. The greens were crisp and fresh, as were all the components. He said the salad tasted like all the slicing and assembling had been down in the last 20 minutes.

Service was on a par with Michelin rated restaurants. We never had to do the room-scan search for our server, and the meal was paced just right for, “hungry but wants to visit a bit”.

In the middle of the restaurant sits a tiny bakery, with a showcase I wanted to hug and take home. Each item not only looked appetizing, but uniquely original, such as sculpted meringue.  Nestled in Trophy Club, on the north side of State Highway 114 and sitting on the boundary between Denton and Tarrant Counties, it is a great place to stop on your way to the Texas Motor Speedway, or Alliance airport. An average meal with water, will cost about $20.00. Walking by the showcase can run up to a $100.00. Well, if your spouse doesn’t stop you. My Sweetheart has promised to take me back as soon as I can walk.
