Recently a friend and I decided to visit a Fort Worth museum for a little class and culture. As part of the trip, we decided that a nice lunch before the museum would be in order. While we wanted a classy meal, our budget was insisting on a lower price. Istanbul Grill downtown (adjacent to Sundance Square) was a perfect choice! Since 2016, this Mediterranean restaurant has provided tasty food in an upscale atmosphere (full waiter service! white tablecloths! wine list!) for about what you’d pay for a chain sit-down restaurant elsewhere.
Istanbul Grill offers a “prix fixe” lunch, wherein you get to choose an appetizer and an entree from a nice list of Turkish/Mediterranean dishes..
We splurged on red sangria (they also have white) and decided to coordinate and share our two appetizers: fried zucchini pancakes (Mucver) and Falafel. They were accompanied by Tzatziki sauce and a basket of pita bread slices.
Following that, our entrees arrived: Lamb Shish (grilled lamb cubes on a bed of rice )and Moussakka (eggplant, zucchini, potato slices and spiced ground beef). We didn’t share these! However, the judgement from each of us was that our selection hit the spot!
The meal was so filling that afterwards we decided to walk around the block to work off some of the calories before heading over to the museum. Next time you’re in downtown Fort Worth (or near their Arlington location), stop by Istanbul Grill and treat yourself!
