Swiss Avenue, Dallas

Dallas Fort Worth’s BEST Value for your money neighborhood. With home prices soaring higher and higher each day, I thought you would like to know where the best areas to invest sit. Land near Downtown Dallas is precious. To live in a new town-home near the Downtown Dallas skyline, with approx. 2,000 square feet, 12-foot ceilings, no yard, and has 3 bedrooms, will cost you anywhere from $550,000 to a few million dollars.

When you choose to live in the city, you pay for convenience, you pay for a lifestyle, you ultimately pay a high premium to live this way. You give up square footage and land for the ease of a faster commute to work and play. So, what if I told you, you could have both? What if I told you, you could have both a city lifestyle, with doable travels, large yards (about an acre), filled with green large trees, and a home with over 5,000 square feet of living space? What would you do if I told you that the price for wanting all of this would be a little over the high-end city town-homes?

Would you like to live in Dallas’s first historic neighborhood? This dreamy neighborhood is rich with heritage, stories and prestige. Located just east of Downtown Dallas sits the fabulous Swiss Avenue, she is dressed in the most beautiful trees, curb appeal, porte-cocheres and verandas.

From the very beginning, since 1905, this area was intentionally set up to hold her value. Robert S. Munger, the neighborhood’s developer, placed building restrictions which stipulated that the homes on Swiss Avenue had to be at least two stories in height, the exteriors constructed of brick or masonry, they were not permitted to face a side street, and each residence had to cost at least $10,000 to build, a hefty sum at the time. No home could be constructed ‘on spec’, all houses had to be built and occupied by their intended residents.

This planned urban development excited many wealthy home buyers. From this vision, born in the early 1900s, has left us with one of the most beautiful streets in America. The architectural interest on these homes are exquisite. One may find styles from Mediterranean, Spanish, Spanish Revival, Georgian, Mission, Prairie, Carftsman, Neoclassical, Italian Renaissance, Tudor and Colonial Revival, all on this one street.

The legendary Swiss Avenue has been home to some pretty terrific residents over the years. If you are a native North Texan, or a long-time resident, these names will be quite familiar to you.

For a mere $1,200,000 – $2,00,000 you may call the beautiful Swiss Avenue your home too.  Check out these great homes!  Follow this link from Texas Pride Realty
