Get ready to stretch and move at Black Swan Yoga. This donation based yoga studio offers two locations and a variety of classes to enjoy. Whether you are a newbie like myself or advanced in your practice, you are sure to enjoy your time at Black Swan Yoga.
I decided to give the Bishop Arts location a try after hearing great reviews from a friend. I loved that they offered their own lot with ample parking, since Bishop Arts is becoming so popular and sometimes finding a parking spot is hard. Since I don’t practice yoga regularly, I was a bit timid walking in, but my nerves quickly fell away thanks to the smiling instructor and the encouragement of the Black Swan yogi community.
I decided to try an intermediate power flow with James and signed up online before attending. Since Black Swan Yoga is donation based, you are able to give online when you sign up or drop in for a class same day if they have availability. If you are looking to attend more than a couple of times a month, they also offer memberships so you can truly put work into your practice.
I do recommend arriving early as classes fill up fast! You’ll also have time to stretch before class, get the perfect spot, and grab yourself water from the cooler. Since the class I attended was heated (and really put me to work!), I was thankful for the extra water available. Each flow started off going over the basics and then we moved through the positions more quickly on the second round. It was a comfortable pace and our instructor was both motivating and inspiring. The class included a traditional warm up, and a cool down to relax and practice breathing, but it also included some pump-up music during the flow that I really enjoyed. The fun music made this class different than the traditional yoga classes I’ve attended before.
I absolutely loved my session and enjoyed how inviting the entire space felt. From the cubbies where I could place my items and the water cooler, they had everything I needed to get myself set up before the class even began. Next time you are looking for a new studio to try for traditional yoga or different power flow options, I highly recommend giving this location a chance. Until then, namaste!
