Looking to give back this holiday season? Need a team bonding activity for your next corporate event? Just have some free time and want to volunteer? If you answered yes to any of these questions then you need to visit the Community Enrichment Center. Located in North Richland Hills the CEC is committed to cultivating and serving the Tarrant County Community through their social services.
They have been serving North Texas residents for over 30 years and their mission can be seen as soon as you walk through the door. I signed up to volunteer at their food pantry online and was excited to due my part in serving my community. Upon arrival there was plenty of parking and the check-in process was smooth. I had a quick training session with other volunteers and I was on my way. My job during my session was to pack produce bags. The job was easy enough and I was sure to get in my steps and even work up a sweat. Other volunteers in our group helped build grocery carts for those coming to receive food or stocking shelves with canned and boxed items.
The 3 hours I was there truly flew by as there was plenty to do. With the work the CEC does they are able to feed over 900,000 nutritious meals each year. In addition to the food pantry they offer services to help struggling community members find safety and stability through affordable housing options, employment and financial coaching, adult education and even therapy and counseling options.
It was unlike any center I had been to before and I was proud of the work myself and other volunteers were able to accomplish. So if you are looking for a way to give back, I highly recommend checking them out! Simply head to their website to learn more about the mission, their impact and to volunteer.
