Mochi is a Japanese dessert traditionally made with glutinous sticky rice flour that’s molded into a small, palm-sized ball. Mochi has been all the rage in the US for the past few years, and that’s invited other creative takes on the Japanese treat, such as mochi ice cream.
Mochinut takes traditional mochi a step further with mochi donuts, which are shaped into 8 balls that are then formed into a ring and fried in oil. This happy marriage of Japanese rice cakes and American-style doughnuts is the treat you didn’t know you needed. With multiple locations in DFW, including Lewisville, Plano, and Richardson, there are sure to be Mochinut near you.
Mochinut rotates flavors weekly. This week, I picked up a three pack featuring passion fruit topped with fruity gummies, Nutella topped with Coco Pebbles, and matcha Oreo! These treats are crispy on the outside, and perfectly chewy on the inside. They’re not overly sweet either, so they’re just as satisfying as a traditional donut, minus all the guilt.
Keep checking back to see available flavor options. Mochinut offers Asian-inspired flavors like banana milk, black sesame, ube, taro, and yuzu.
