Quietly hidden in close proximity to McKinney’s Historic District is a rock and roll themed coffee shop called TexaKona FM. This unassuming coffee shop is located inside the Historic Flour Mill just east of Downtown McKinney, and has been roasting coffee in the area since 2015.
What sets apart TexaKona FM from other coffee shops in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex is the sheer number of drinks on their menu! TexaKona FM offers 107 drinks all designed by their own barista, ranging from coffees and sparkling sodas to teas and lemonades to craft energy drinks! Most of these drinks are named after famous songs or reference sub-genres in rock, like Sweet Chai of Mine, Smells Like Tea Spirit, Livin’ La Vida Mocha, and Strawberry To Heaven.
TexaKona FM does offer your traditional coffees, like cappuccinos, Americanos, and more, but most of their menu is more experimental with combinations I’ve never seen at other coffee shops. Some flavor options that caught my eye include:
- Cinnamon Mocha Marshmallow Frozen Java
- Rose and Lavender Breve
- Coconut and Caramel Cappuccino
- Iced Matcha Lemonade
- Fruity Pebble and Matcha Shake
- Sparkling Spicy Peach
- Dragon Fruit, Lychee, and Raspberry Refresher
Though TexaKona FM is a beverage shop first, they also have bites available to satiate your hunger. They have cold, hot, and breakfast sandwiches available, as well as pastries and snacks. They have kid-friendly snack options, and snacks for those with dietary restrictions, including, keto, protein, vegetarian, and gluten-free.
