Calles De Mexico Tacos

Have you ever unexpectedly walking into a low key restaurant or store that’s been in your neighborhood the entire duration of your residency? That’s how I felt when I was shopping for groceries at my local Walmart recently. I noticed a quaint taco shop near my local Walmart and I finally decided to stop in. I’m upset I didn’t visit sooner!

It’s hard to find authentic Mexican tacos in the DFW suburbs. A lot of the best tacos are often found in Oak Cliff or South Dallas, but Calles De Mexico Tacos in The Colony absolutely delivers.

This restaurant is massive inside, which is shocking because it appears so small from the outside. There’s a full sized bar with beer and cocktail options. There are booths and tables spread evenly throughout the restaurant. There’s even a stage where performances and live music sometime take place.

I visited Calles De Mexico Tacos for the first time five days ago. I’ve been three more times since. The food is not only affordable, but it’s authentic, made with locally sourced ingredients, and you receive beyond generous helpings. I’ve ordered chorizo and steak gorditas made with corn flour and topped with lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, and a beautiful helping of crema. I’ve ordered this with a side of rice and beans and it is such a satisfying meal. I washed down my meal with a sweet, yet refreshing agua fresca de jamaica, or fresh hibiscus juice.
