Whether you are looking for a kid-friendly restaurant or just wanting a unique dining experience, then you need to check out Rainforest Cafe. Located inside the Grapevine Mills mall you will find this jungle themed restaurant that will have you feel like you are dining in paradise.
This spot wasn’t originally on our radar for lunch, but after our plans to dine outside got rained out, we decided to give them a try. We loved that even though the restaurant was quite busy on a Friday afternoon, our party was able to get a great seat inside their jungle atmosphere. It felt like we had left DFW and were on a safari adventure with the animatronic animals, sounds of nature, and jungle themed decor that truly added to the atmosphere. While the atmosphere is tropical the menu definitely leans more to American style cuisine. You can find a great assortment of food and drink options here that are perfect for lunch and dinner.
For our entrees we all decided to try one of their tasty salads. I grabbed a taco salad that was served in a crispy tortilla bowl and piled high with shredded lettuce, ground beef, guacamole, tomatoes, sour cream, black beans, a cheese blend, and dressing on the side. The flavors were fresh and comforting and perfect mixed together leaving me full and satisfied. A friend of mine tried something from the opposite side of the world with their take on a Chinese chicken salad which came with grilled pieces of sliced chicken breast, mandarin oranges, sesame seeds, carrots, rice noodles, green onions, and their house made dressing on top of mixed greens. The salad was tangy and delicious and something that was unexpected from this kitschy restaurant. Others in our group enjoyed options from the grill including fish tacos and the chicken quesadilla that were all grilled to perfection.
After we enjoyed our meal, we took some time to explore their onsite gift shop that was filled with fun animal themed items perfect for kids and adults alike. While unexpected, we were all very impressed with the food options at this restaurant. We did find though that the lunch prices were pretty high and wouldn’t be something that we would normally choose as a dining spot. We did all give high marks to their staff for the excellent service we received and that we were able to get a table immediately with our large group. I would definitely recommend if you were looking for a unique spot to dine with kids or with a group.
