The Hive

As someone who commutes to Arlington for work, I am always looking for great spots for lunch to keep me fueled for my in-office days. I love getting to explore this bustling down, and I recently dined at The Hive Arlington in the downtown area. Located off North East Street you can find this cute casual eatery that is open with limited lunchtime hours Thursday-Saturday.

The pleasant esthetic and great online reviews had me interested in giving them a try, and I am so happy I did. Walking into the restaurant, I was greeted by their friendly staff and warm environment that felt like I was walking into a friend’s house. With fun wallpaper and mismatched furniture that offers plenty of seating options, it’s the perfect spot to grab a bite to eat if you are dining with friends or just visiting solo. Their concise menu offers a variety of sandwiches, salads, soups, or combo options that are great for meat and vegetarian eaters alike. Since it was my first visit, I took some time to look over their menu and asked for some recommendations from the staff as everything sounded so good.

I ultimately decided on a sandwich and salad combo of the blueberry Havarti sandwich which they term as their customer favorite and blu Ceasar salad. The half sandwich came piled high with smokey turkey breast, fresh sliced Havarti cheese, greens, a blueberry mayo, on toasted house-made sourdough bread. While I was initially curious on how the flavors would taste together, I loved the mix of sweet and savory that felt very comforting and perfect as we head into the fall season. The salad was a classic Ceasar with a mix of romaine and spring mix, shredded chicken, parmesan cheese, red onion, and homemade croutons and dressing. Though the dressing was a mix of blue cheese and Cesar that was tangy and flavorful.

I felt that the value of my meal was well worth the price and everything tasted amazing and fresh. I loved getting to support a local small business, and I look forward to returning again soon for another tasty lunch.
