While in the Galleria area one day, I realized I needed sustenance (lunch!) to continue my day running errands. Fortunately, there was an Kuai Asian Kitchen right around the corner (they have two additional locations in downtown Dallas)..
The interior is bright, clean and modern. I’d call it kind of a “Swedish/Japanese” aesthetic. I know it sounds strange, but I loved the signs for the mens and womens restrooms! So cute!
Since it was my first time, the friendly lady behind the counter walked me through their menu. So may tempting choices! I finally decided on the Tokyo Chicken Bowl (with steamed broccoli, carrots and onions in a sesame teriyaki sauce and topped with black sesame seeds). Since I was so hungry, I added an order of the pork dumplings. Both dishes turned out yummy and filling – but not so filling that I couldn’t gobble down every bite!

I was impressed by their self-serve condiment bar, containing an assortment of sauces and garnishes to customize your plate. I chose several, and almost every mouthful of my meal was different as a result! Also, they have quite a few flavored teas – again, I couldn’t resist and tried several. Peach! Mango! Blueberry pomegranite! With choices like these, why would you stop at plain black tea? Delicious!
The first Kuai (which means “fast” in Mandarin Chinese) opened in 2006 downtown in the Republic Tower building . They were so popular they unveiled their second location in Renaissance Tower nearby (for TV aficionados, this is the old “Ewing Oil” building from the show “Dallas”) in 2008. The Galleria area location opened in 2017.
For a quick, tasty meal at an affordable price (and lots of tea to choose from!), check out Kuai Asian Kitchen yourself!
