Retro Madness is your one-stop shop for buying, selling or trading video games, toys and collectibles. If you were a child in the 70’s, 80’s or 90’s, be prepared to say, “I had one of those!!”…a lot. My nerd friend and I stopped in here a few days ago and had a great stroll down memory lane. My companion found many of his favorite childhood toys in our wanderings. There was a plethora of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles action figures, play sets and “real” character weapons that he had spent many hours playing with. When he picked up a Ghostbuster’s proton pack and gun he looked younger for a moment, joyful and happy. He was just a nine-year old boy once more, zapping ghosts and saving the world.
Any child born before 1990 will immediately recognize the game system selection when you first walk through the door. I personally spent most of my time on a Super Nintendo. My favorite games were: Super Mario World, Donkey Kong, Mario Kart and Mario Paint. My brother tried to teach me the football ones but gave up when I would only choose Hail Mary’s. I did not understand what any of the little squiggles meant so I just picked the play that worked the most often for me…my ole faithful. Everything I would need to have a throwback weekend to my childhood can be found here at Retro Madness, for under a hundred bucks! I remember spending hours on the mine cart level of Donkey Kong, unable to do that one huge jump. When I finally achieved the jump, no one was there to see it as they had already given up waiting for me to do it and moved on. I might reassemble the various siblings and cousins that did not believe me when I said I did it, just to make them watch me do it now!

Retro Madness has games for almost everything, from original Nintendo to Sega Genesis, from the first computer games, all the way up to PS4 and Xbox games. The PS4 games averaged around ten bucks, and they were not crap titles. This store has better prices on their games than I’ve ever seen in those big game-resale chain stores. My family has been wanting one of those new miniature Nintendos, debating over getting the original or the Super first. I think that we will just buy an actual Super Nintendo (that’s the one that I want) from here and all the games. I think I would probably feel like a kid again if I had to blow the game cartridge free of dust before it would play. Maybe my game skills have improved enough to beat Bowser without the Game Genie on (yes, I was that kid).
If you take someone that is not interested in vintage toys they can still enjoy themselves. They may not appreciate the ORIGINAL G.I. Joe dolls or Star Wars merchandise, they may not understand the significance of starting lineup action figures from 90’s sports, but they can find more modern things to keep themselves occupied while you dig through plastic bins of a various action figures of your favorite childhood characters. Let them look at the wall of Pops (most around ten dollars) and eye that model of Joffrey Baratheon on the Iron throne while you make laser noises and pretend to shoot Womp rats with your blaster.
