The Salty Donut

This Instagram-worthy spot is in the Bishop Arts district and has both indoor and outdoor seating, perfect for enjoying breakfast. I stopped by after doing some shopping in the area and was looking for something that would be a great morning pick me up. Since it was my first time, I took some time to explore the case of donut options that featured their traditional options as well as some specialities only available during that weekend. After looking over the menu and watching some of the fresh donuts being prepared, I opted for the horchata donut and the blueberry coffee cake.

While I was just looking for food this visit, they do offer great beverages ranging from iced coffee, matcha and even alcohol that pair perfectly with their delicious treats. After I placed my order, my selections were quickly boxed up, which made bringing them home safe and easy. I couldn’t wait to dive in as both smelled amazing. I loved the cinnamon-forward taste of the horchata donut and the fresh brioche that was soft and filling. The blubbery donut was also great and interesting with the vanilla bean filling and crunchy coffee cake topping. I couldn’t decide which one I enjoyed more and loved how they tasted alone and with coffee.

The best part of these donuts are that they are made fresh daily! I highly recommend eating them immediately for the best flavor and suggest arriving early, especially on the weekends, as some of their specialties do run out. As a donut aficionado, it stood up to my standards and I look forward to returning again soon.
