Portillo’s the Colony

You’ve probably heard the news that you can grab a great hot dog or Italian beef sandwich at Portillo’s. This Chicago staple has finally put down roots in North Texas and is located in The Colony. A perfect place to stop for lunch or dinner after shopping or exploring the variety of entertainment activities in the area.

After visit the Windy City plenty of times, I was excited to hear that Portillo’s was coming to Texas. Famous for their delicious Chicago style food and delectable chocolate cake their menu is packed with great tasting items. Since this restaurant recently opened I do recommend going non traditional dining hours or being prepared to wait in line. While there may be a wait, it’s worth it for the quality and taste you will be receiving.

This location is massive and has an industrial feel to their indoor decor. Since I have been before I didn’t need a menu and my mouth was already watering as I stepped through the door. For my lunch I grabbed a jumbo hot dog dressed with all the traditional fixings of tomato slices, lime green relish, celery salt, onions, mustard and a pickle all placed on a poppy seed bun. My meal wasn’t complete without grabbing a fry and their gooey cheese sauce for dipping. My friend had to try their famous Italian beef that came with hot or sweet papers and dipped or dry to your liking. We waited about 30 minutes to order and for the food to be prepared but once our number was called the food was delivered piping hot.

The flavor of everything was incredible and was just as good as I remembered. I loved that even though they were new in town and busy, it didn’t affect the taste and quality of the meal. It was a fabulous experience and something that I can’t wait to enjoy for years to come.
