Howdy folks! The Texas State Fair is officially back and ready to welcome locals and travels alike. This 24 consecutive day festival is such a fun experience whether its your first time or have been visiting for years. From plenty of food, to games, and even concerts, there is so much to enjoy at this spectacle.
The Texas State Fair is one of the largest in the nation and can be found right in our backyard of Haskell in Dallas. The fair is open daily and offers plenty of chances to visit. Whether you are only wanting to check out a specific event for a couple of hours, or getting yourself a season pass for the season, you are going to love this longstanding tradition.
Single day tickets to the Fair can be purchased online, through some major retailers, or onsite at the ticket booth. I do recommend getting there early, especially on the weekends, as the lines to get in and to food vendors around the park can be long. Luckily we were able to only have a short wait at the entrance and skipped some of the longer lines throughout the day.
We enjoyed getting to look through a variety of exhibits from the car show and craft fair to the live music and barns. There is so much to see and do, you will definitely be tired by the end of the day. During our visit we also checked out the permanent structure in Midway that took you up in the air to see panoramic views of the city. It was great to see the fair in action.
For food options there is so many to choose from! From traditional favorite’s like Fletchers Corny Dogs to new items like the Biscoff Cheescake that won “Best Sweet Taste” at this years Big Tex Choose awards. There is truly something for everyone and it is such a fun time exploring all the different types of cuisines. A full list of the food you can find, including the winners, can be found on their website.
Lastly, before you leave you need to get a picture with the iconic Big Tex! This is the perfect place to get your picture and located in the middle of the large fair space.
So grab your friends and family and head out to the Fair before they close for the year. You won’t regret getting the chance to see, taste, and enjoy all the sights, sounds, and food of the Texas State Fair.
