Pax and Beneficia

With a seemingly vast and endless pool of coffee shops in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, it can be difficult to hone in on a spot to grab of coffee. Pax and Beneficia is a minority-owned coffee shop with Persian influences, both in the atmosphere and the menu.

Pax and Beneficia has some of the most creative coffees I’ve seen in the DFW metroplex. One of my favorite drinks draw inspiration from the Middle East and Mediterranean, such as the Zahr Latter, which is essentially baklava in latte form! This latte contains orange blossom syrup with honey and cardamom. The Yara is essentially a Mediterranean limonada, made with fresh lemons, mint, ginger, and rosemary. These creations are available year-round!

One of my favorite current seasonal coffees is the Café Bombón, which is a popular coffee in Spain. It traditionally consists of espresso and sweetened condensed milk. It’s very similar to Vietnamese coffee!

If you’re looking for something to snack on, the toast at Pax is absolutely incredible. For those wanting to start their day with something sweet, I recommend the Nutella and fruit toast or the pistachio and sweetened ricotta toast. The Za’atar toast is on the savory side and is inspired by Middle Eastern spices. This toast is topped with za’atar (a spice mixture that includes toasted sesame seeds and dried sumac), feta cheese, and olive oil on artisanal white toast.
