Sushi Sakana Uptown

When you have a craving for sushi next, then you need to head to Sushi Sakana. With several locations across DFW it makes it easy to find a spot near you. While the reviews online rave about the food and experience, I can attest that they are true after my recent visit to the Uptown location.

Located right off McKinney Ave this hot spot restaurant not only served up delicious fresh fish but great vibes. We loved the enticing music and that this spot offered both covered patio and outdoor seating. We were pleasantly surprised we were able to grab a table inside on a busy Saturday afternoon for lunch. We took a bit to look over their large menu that featured traditional rolls and specialty rolls that were raw, cooked and even deep fried.

We finally decided on four that were the Butterfly, Super Shrimpy, Panic Roll, and Snow Mountain. The rolls were being made fresh at the sushi bar right by our table and the friendly staff had them served immediately. Each roll came with 8-10 pieces and was plenty of food to be shared amongst another person. It was hard to decide which was our favorite but we loved the uniqueness of each roll. Such as the riceless option of the Butterfly that truly showcased the fresh salmon and crab meat. Or the spiciness of the Panic Roll with its spicy tuna, crab and topping of jalapeno slice. The Snow Mountain was true to its name with its high toppings of tuna, crabmeat and yellowtail and finally the crispness of the Super Shrimpy that came with both tempura shrimp and boiled shrimp.

Each roll came with a variety of sauces in addition to the traditional accompaniments of soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger. The food tasted fresh and competed with some of my other favorite sushi restaurants in the city. It was the perfect lunch and a place that I would definitely visit again after the superb service and delicious menu options.
