Slovacek’s West

Whether you are looking for an amazing butcher, baker, or fun gift shop, you can find everything you need all under one roof at Slovacek’s West. This fun Czech style kolache and meat market can be found just outside DFW in West, Texas. Conveniently located off I-35 it’s the perfect place to stop for delicious food or a much needed bathroom break on your next road trip down south.

We decided to give them a visit on our trip to Waco. It came highly recommended, and when we pulled off the highway, we understood why. The parking lot was bustling with people, and the line for their baked goods wound around the store. The enticing aromas inside kept us patient during the wait, and I’m thrilled we decided to stay.

Behind the counter there are several people working which makes the line go by fast. Their bakery features over 35 different kolache varieties and a selection of baked goods that scream comfort food. If you are looking for something more savory head to their meat counter for a selection of meat snack sticks and sausages that will have you in a food coma.

If the food alone wasn’t enough to make you stop, you will also enjoy their large gift shop that features specialty food items, home décor, apparel, and more. The whole experience helped to make our road trip more enjoyable and we loved getting to try a variety of different food items. My favorite were the apple fruit kolache that was severed warm and the jalapeno cheddar sausage. Though everything we tried and took home were great!

As if stopping at this location wasn’t great enough, they also offer fill up stations for gas and a dog park that is perfect for your furry friends on the road. It was a great place to stop, stretch our legs, and enjoy some delicious food. It is sure to be a must on our road trips from here on out!
