Have you ever craved two different kinds of cuisines at once? I love fusion foods because they tend to satisfy two distinct flavors at once. One of my favorite hole-in-the-wall fusion spots is a family-owned restaurant called Thaiqueria.
Thaiqueria is quietly located in a small strip mall in Carrollton between Frankford Road and East Trinity Mills Road. This restaurant takes your favorite Asian cuisines and combines it with Mexican influences. If you’re wondering if you can try the trending birria tacos here, you absolutely can! Except the birria tacos here include Thai braised beef consommé. Yum!
You may have heard of the controversial phorrito, a burrito filled with seasoned beef, veggies, and rice noodles. Thaiqueria takes this concept a step further with their pad-Thai-rito, a burrito lovingly stuffed with noodles, egg, bean sprouts, slaw, and your choice of protein.
We tried the dirty tots, which are tater tots with spicy Crema and zesty TomYum mayo, cheese, sriracha, and onion. I added beef birria to my tots and I’m still drooling about them to this day.
The Pad Kra Pow, consisting of stir fry chili, garlic, onion, bell peppers, basil, a fried egg, rice, and your choice of protein was perfect. I chose chicken for my Pad Kra Pow and the chicken was juicy, wonderfully seasoned, and so tender.
