Portillo’s

If you’ve ever been to Chicago, you know that that city takes its hot dogs very seriously. In fact, it’s a cardinal sin to top your dog with some ketchup. Crazy, right?

You can get a taste of Chicago’s hot dog scene right here in Dallas-Fort Worth! Whether you’re in Allen, The Colony, or Fort Worth, you’re bound to be near Portillo’s Hot Dogs.

Portillo’s signature dog comes with mustard, celery, celery salt, freshly chopped onions, sliced tomatoes, kosher pickles and sport peppers on a poppy seed hot dog bun.

Portillo’s also has a number of hamburger and sandwich options, the former of which can be served with ketchup. I also tried Portillo’s Italian beef sandwich which was scrumptious.

If you haven’t heard, Portillo’s is also famous for their chocolate cake shake. It’s a vanilla milkshake that has an entire chocolate cake slice blended together. This originally started as a way to re-purpose left over cake slices.
