There is nothing more comforting than the delicious spices of Mediterranean food. That is why I am so happy to have found Istanbul Grill in Arlington. Located off Cooper Street, this family-run joint is serving up authentic Turkish flavors inside a quaint and clean restaurant space.
We decided to visit for lunch during the week and were easily able to grab a table inside, but loved that they also offered outdoor seating options in a beautiful atmosphere. We started off our meal with a plate of both the hot and cold appetizers that provided plenty of food to share amongst our group and even could make a meal itself. I loved the smokiness of the baba ganoush and hummus dips paired with the fluffy fresh pita bread. We also tried the falafel that was perfectly crispy and Turkish sigara boregi which was feta cheese rolled with dough. This was something new to me and a great savory platter of delicious flavors.
For our main dishes we tried the Mediterranean salad and the combination kebab platter. The salad came with gyro meat that was pilled high with romaine lettuce, sweet peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, feta cheese and olives. It was super tasty and filling. For the kebabs we loved getting to try a variety of meats such as chicken, beef, gyro, and salmon with flavorful basmati rice and grilled vegetables. We both had plenty of food to take home with us and made delicious leftovers to be enjoyed at home.
I felt like I was in a food coma upon leaving the restaurant and already planning a visit back soon. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for delicious Mediterranean cuisine in the DFW area.
