Whiskey Cake is bringing a whole new meaning to holiday spirit(s). With several locations across the Metroplex, this restaurant is a must for anyone with a whiskey obsession or just enjoys great americana food. Recently I had the chance to visit their Las Colinas location off Regent Boulevard and Lyndon B Johnson Freeway and would highly recommend for anyone looking for a great bite to eat or a delicious handcrafted cocktail.
This spot you can smell before even walking through the door as you are greeted in their parking lot by the heavenly smells of their wood grilled and smoked specialties. We came for a group lunch and the hostess was quick to seat our large party. The inside of the restaurant was quite large and perfect for dining in small or large groups. Our friendly waiter came by almost instantly with cold water jugs and to share the specials for the day.
While we weren’t able to enjoy something from their large cocktail menu, we had plenty of nonalcoholic options and mocktails to choose from. Everyone in our group felt like there was something tasty on the menu to try and their options ranged from salads and sandwiches to larger entrees that are perfect for lunch and dinner. They even offer a delightful brunch menu that is available on the weekends.
After looking over their variety of choices, I ultimately decided on their smoked chicken chopped salad that was highly recommend by our waiter. It was packed with delicious accompaniments of hardboiled egg, bacon, avocado, smoked cheddar cheese, tomatoes, and smoked grilled chicken. The salad was also served with a basil garlic dressing that they happily put on the side for me.
When my entrée arrived I was pleasantly surprised by the size and everything tasted great paired together. It was perfectly filling, but I knew I needed to try dessert. We ordered a famous whiskey cake that consisted of sticky coffee cake, bourbon anglaise, spiced pecans and their homemade whipped cream on the side. The cake was the perfect mix of sweet and savory and was a great addition to the meal.
All in all this was a great experience from the amazing service to the delicious food. I can’t wait to visit again soon to try more of their menu items and selection of drinks from the bar.
