Restaurant DeGolyer

When visiting the Dallas Arboretum there are several spots to dine at. While on a recent visit there, we decided to check out Restaurant DeGolyer. Established in 1939 this historic restaurant is a great place to enjoy an elegant lunch, dinner, or tea service.

We decided to give them a try for lunch since we were celebrating a special occasion and it was the perfect place. The inside dining room of the historic DeGloyer House was elegant and sophisticated. From the moment we checked in with the hostess we were greeted with such wonderful service that we knew we were in for a special treat. The entire waitstaff were extremely friendly and quick to provide excellent service whether they were providing recommendations, checking in on the meal, or even filling the water glasses.

In addition to the excellent service, we thought the meal was amazing! It was hard to choose from the menu options as they had so much to offer, but I ultimately decided on the garbanzo and kale cakes while my partner trilled the grilled cauliflower steak. The cakes where rich and flavorful and coated in a savory tomato basil sauce and served with riced and sauteed green beans. While the cauliflower steak came with a tangy chimichurri sauce.

We both enjoyed our entrees, but the kale and garbanzo cakes were definitely the favorite. In addition to our meal we both enjoyed a glass of their fresh peach ice tea that wasn’t too sweet and gave the perfect taste of summer. Since we were celebrating we also had to toast with a glass of prosecco that was crisp and perfect for the warm day. All in all we truly enjoyed our dining experience here and we look forward to returning soon for more delicious bites and excellent service.
