Rick’s Chophouse

When thinking of fine dining, Rick’s Chophouse should come to mind. This classic steakhouse located in downtown McKinney can be found inside the historic Grand Hotel off Kentucky Street. Adorned with leather seating, gas lamps, a tin ceiling, and incredible hospitality you are going to want to check this place out for your next date night or celebration.

We came here for a Saturday lunch to celebrate a milestone birthday. It was easy to make a reservation online and upon arrival the friendly hostess was able to seat us immediately. From there our waitress came by to introduce herself, give some backstory on the restaurant, and take our drink orders while we looked over their delicious menu. The food ranged from your classic cuts of steak to homey southern dishes that are all farm fresh and inspired by the seasons.

My cocktail of choice was the Citrus Solstice Mule that was perfect for summer and came with Limoncello, strawberry simple syrup, fresh lime juice, ginger beer and sliced strawberries. It was tangy and sweet and the perfect mix for a freshing summer drink. My partner had to try one of their old fashioneds that are famous for Ricks. We loved the creative twist of this classic drink that came with a pecan-infused simple syrup and black walnut bitters. These were the perfect options to toast for our celebration and had us excited for the rest of the meal.

For my main entrée I tried their Chophouse Duo that came with my choice of salad, soup, or half a sandwich. I loved the Field Greens that was perfect for summer with a mix of different greens, strawberries, spice pecans, marinated feta cheese, and dressed with a citrus basil vinaigrette. I also had to try their Reuben sandwich that was highly recommend by our waitress and for good reason. Everything had such wonderful flavor and were big portion sizes for lunch.

Others in my group also enjoyed Reubens paired with their salt and vinegar chips and the chophouse salad. While the star of the show was their prime rib sandwich that came on a hoagie bun, horseradish cream, arugula, Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, beef jus and a heaping side of sweet potato fries. We all enjoyed our meals and had clean plates by the end of the evening.

Though we felt like we couldn’t have another bite, the hospitality of our waitress provided us with a complimentary dessert of rustic apple pie with a bourbon ice cream to help us celebrate. It was the icing on top of the cake and truly showed how incredible the team at Rick’s is. We had such a wonderful experience and felt that the pricing was a great deal for such an amazing establishment.
