The Finch

Are you in need of a great happy hour spot? Then a visit to The Finch is a must! This beautifully designed restaurant in Grand Prairie off South State Highway 161 has been open for some time, but a place we recently had the chance to visit. Located near the Epic, this spot is perfect to visit if you are in the mood for a night of entertainment and delicious food.

We made reservations online in an attempt to beat the Friday rush crowd on a holiday weekend. We were happy that our table was ready for us upon arrival and how each staff member we interacted with was so kind and welcoming. We were instantly impressed by the beauty of the scenery both inside the restaurant and on their beautiful patio that overlooked the Epic Central water display.

As we were overlooking the menu, our friendly waiter came to introduce himself and go over some of his favorites and answer any questions we had. We all decided to start off with a round of drinks and several of their happy hour appetizers that were such a steal for their large portion sizes and perfect for our group of six. I thoroughly enjoyed my Espresso martini that came with vanilla vodka, bourbon cream, double shot espresso, and Kahlua. Not only was it beautifully presented and full to the brim, but the flavor was a great mix of coffee and sweetness that was a great start to my meal. Others enjoyed the Brown Sugar Old Fashioned that came with Bourbon, brown sugar reduction, aromatic bitters and a martini flight that came with their choice of three mini martinis from the list of Lemon Drop, Classic Martini, Cosmopolitan, and Appletini all served on a martini tree.

While our cocktails were delivered the kitchen was hard at work getting our appetizers prepared. We enjoyed Volcano Rock Shrimp, Crispy Chicken Bites, Gorgonzola Waffle Fries, and Cowboy Queso that was more than plenty to share amongst the six of us. Everything had such great flavor and were the perfect way to start off our meal and enjoy our cocktails with. Even though we were quiet full from the apps, we did decide to order dinner entrees. My personal favorite was the French Dip that came with thinly shaved medium rare house-roasted prime rib, Havarti, au jus, horseradish crème, and battered fries as my side. It was the perfect compliment to my drink and had such great flavor that I still rave about. The others at the table ordered such a variety of dishes from Blackened Red Fish Tacos to the White Wine Shrimp Scampi and no one had a bad review about their meal.

To finish off our meal our waiter brought us a complimentary slice of cheesecake as they heard we were celebrating a birthday. The entire experience was memorable and we can’t thank the staff enough for their hospitality. We loved this dining experience and know that we will be back soon to try other delicious options from their menu.
