While there is a multitude of Tex-Mex and Mexican restaurants to choose from in the DFW area, I always enjoy trying out new spots. My most recent find is located in North Arlington off Collins Street close to the Viridian neighborhood. In this brand-new shopping center, you will find Maria Cuca’s Mexican Cuisine that is the perfect mix of elevated vibe with traditional flavors.
We came here for a group dinner and the team at Maria Cuca’s went above and beyond to make our experience one to remember. Our group was instantly welcomed by their friendly staff, and we were ushered into the bar area space that was perfect for our larger group. We had a dedicated staff that helped to get our drink orders and selection of appetizers. Since we arrived after work, we were also able to take advantage of their weekly happy hour that is available from 11am-7pm that includes $7 house margaritas and $1 off all their cocktails. While I wasn’t drinking this evening, my friends all commented on the fresh and tasty flavors of their handcrafted cocktails.
For our appetizers we got several orders including Aimee’s queso that was delivered piping hot with roasted jalapenos, pico de gallo, and brisket that was creamy, spicy, and tasted great with their toasted salty chips. I also loved their selection of green and red salsas that were tangy and fresh tasting. Since we were splitting appetizers, we knew we wanted something that everyone could enjoy and the Cuca’s platter fit that description perfectly. This dish came with stuffed jalapenos, bean nachos, chicken and beef flautas, fried burritos, cheese quesadilla, and sides of guacamole, sour cream, and chili con queso. My favorite from the platter was the flautas and fried burritos, but there wasn’t a bad dish from the bunch.
The flavors of this spot was amazing and everything delivered to our table was hot, fresh, and flavorful. We also enjoyed their beautifully decorated dining space and the wonderful hospitality of the restaurant staff. Our first experience was one to write home about and I know this is sure to be a great happy hour spot or a place for dinner the next time I’m craving delicious Mexican food.
