PopUp Bagels

Have you ever seen a viral spot on TikTok or Instagram and wondered if it’s worth the hype? While I am sometimes leery of these viral spots, I knew I had to try the recently opened PopUp Bagels for myself. This bagel shopped originally earned their claim to fame in New York and has been opening up new spots throughout the US and finally has their first spot in Dallas. Located in Inwood Village off Lovers Lane, you can spot this place right next to the Theatre.

While we waited a few weeks before we decided to give them a try, there was still a decent line on the Friday morning we went. It was slightly difficult to get a parking spot in this small strip mall, but we hoped that it was worth it for their famous bagels. We had checked out their menu prior to our arrival, so we had a sense of what to expect when we got there. Something to note is that you are not able to buy a single bagel. They come in packs of 3, half dozen, or dozen amounts. You can buy single cream cheese smears though making it easy to enjoy several flavors. In terms of their varieties, they have several that are consistent on the menu in addition to a specialty schmear of the week.

For this visit we opted for the pack of 3 bagels so we could each try one for ourselves and bring one home. We grabbed an everything, poppy seed, and a salt bagel to try so we could have a taste of almost everything on the menu. For our schmear choice we went with scallion which had been highly recommended by friends of ours. Unlike a regular bagel shop, PopUp Bagels stands out from the pack with their theory that bagels should be ripped, dipped, and shared. The bagels came out hot and fresh that were ready to be enjoyed. We loved the hands-on experience of ripping up the bagel to the bite size of choice and easily dipping it into their creamy schmear. It was a little bit messy with the bagels we chose, but the flavors were on point, and the staff was so fun to interact with. We did find that the pricing was a bit high as compared to our current local spot, but it was a fun experience overall and we would definitely return when back in the area or there was a specialty limited time schmear, we wanted to try.
