Whistle Hill’s Downtown Cafe

Whether there’s truth to the rumor that this restaurant is haunted by a pharmacist, you need to check out Whistle Hill’s Downtown cafe if you are looking for a delicious and hearty breakfast that will have you feeling like you are dining at someone’s house. Located off Church Street in Weatherford, this hometown restaurant is a favorite by locals and after just one visit I know why.

While not a town I visit frequently, I may have to return soon after getting to enjoy breakfast with a friend at Whistle Hill’s. Known for their large portions and flavorful combinations, this spot makes for the perfect breakfast or lunch. We got the chance to visit for breakfast and though we had to wait a bit to grab a table on a busy weekend, it was well worth it for the amazing experience and wonderful hospitality of their friendly staff.

Their menu offers something for everyone whether you enjoy a savory classic or something on the sweet side. I knew I wanted something comforting and opted for their chicken fried chicken served on top of their large golden pancakes. My breakfast also came with a side of choice which I opted for their hashbrowns and a side of their house made gravy making for a complete savory concoction. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside which can be hard to master. I loved the crispy hashbrowns as well and the delicious gravy. The pancakes had a wonderful butter flavor and were great with syrup. While not the healthiest breakfast, it had me satisfied and truly gave me a homey feeling.

My friend grabbed one of their breakfast sandwiches that came with their choice of bacon, sausage, or ham, with two over hard eggs and cheese. It was the perfect handheld option, and he loved the savory combination that tasted great on its own but even better with a dash of hot sauce. We loved our experience here and while not a place we will get to visit often, we will try to return when we can.
