Another Broken Egg Cafe

If you are a brunch lover then you are going to need to make your next breakfast/lunch outing to Another Broken Egg Cafe. Located in the Colony off Plano Parkway, you will find this restaurant that serves delicious food all inside their fun and bright atmosphere.

This is truly the perfect place to wake up and has been a favorite of mine for several years. While I use to frequent their now closed Uptown Dallas location, I was happy to hear that the site in the Colony still exists. I was craving their tasty pancakes and homestyle favorites and convinced a friend to take a trip out there with me. We were lucky enough to grab a spot on their patio during a busy weekend rush. While the place was packed, we were happy with the wonderful service we received from our friendly and attentive server.

While we took some time to look over the menu which is consistently adding new and existing options that are perfect for the changing seasons, I grabbed a caramel cold brew that was perfect to enjoy on a warm sunny day. The delicious French roasted cold brew coffee was topped with a whipped cream topping and caramel drizzle that truly felt like a dessert and a great way to start off my meal. For my main I was debating between sweet and savory, so my friend and I split a stack f their bourbon street pancakes, while I ordered the shrimp and grits and she grabbed the Cajun shrimp and crawfish omelet which were both recommended by our gracious server.

I was surprised that our wait for our mains wasn’t very long and everything was delivered to our table hot and smelled amazing. Our pancakes were truly indulgent and topped with bananas, pecans, a rum butter sauce and whipped cream. They were very sweet but the perfect opposite to our savory dishes and a great option to split with someone. We were so happy that our server convinced us on the savory options that were so flavorful and packed a good amount of spice to combat the sweet pancakes. My shrimp and grits came with lots of fresh gulf shrimp and slices of andouille sausage that were mixed with red peppers, onions, and a spicy sauce served over their creamy cheese grits. The lemon slice on the sauce brought out the tangy and bright flavor of the delicious New Orleans style classic spices. My friend was very happy with her breakfast as well that offered fluffy eggs filled with lots of seafood pieces and topped with a tangy tomato hollandaise sauce and served with an English muffin and loaded bacon gouda grits.

Our meal left us completely satisfied and we were truly stuffed by the time we cleared our plates. The prices for the large portions were well worth it and I loved that this location offered the same great quality that I have come to love. I can’t wait to return again soon when I am craving a tasty breakfast with great service that I know I can count on time and time again.
