While you have plenty of options for great Tex Mex in DFW, if you live in Grand Prairie then you need to check out the newly opened Vidorra. Located in the hopping EpicCentral off State Highway 161, you will find this two-story restaurant serving up modern Mexican food and drinks in a lively atmosphere.
Since it just recently opened, we decided to make a reservation to visit for a Saturday lunch. We’re happy we did because while their was plenty of parking options in the surrounding lots and garage, the restaurant seemed to have every seat filled including at the bar. Though our table was ready for us when we arrived and we were quickly seated in the upstairs area next to their live DJ. We took some time to review their menu and while we didn’t order any drinks, they had several great sounding options such as their El Papi Chulo which is their take on a frozen margarita and red sangria swirl or their El Nalgon that came with Bacardi coconut, lime, guava, pineapple and cinnamon that will transport you straight to somewhere warm. We did however order their queso that was served piping hot and bubbly in a Molcajete bowl.
The white queso was extremely flavorful with the jalapenos, tomatoes, peppers, and onions and tasted great with their salty and crispy chips. We also enjoyed the complimentary duo of salsas that had a great kick and smokey flavor on the red salsa and a smooth and bright flavor from the green salsa. The appetizers were the perfect size to split amongst four people and got us ready to enjoy the other delicious options on the menu. For my main course, I chose the shrimp tacos that were flavored with garlic and chipotle. They featured a slight kick, but were cooled down by the ancho slaw. They were the perfect bite and loved the complete meal with my black refried beans and chimichurri rice.
My counterparts enjoyed the birria tacos complete with consommé for dipping and the chicken tinga street tacos that came with a braised shredded chicken, cilantro, radish, and onions. Everyone simply raved about their food and how tasty it was. In addition to the wonderful food we enjoyed we loved the aspect of having live music. It was a great place to visit for brunch and would be the perfect place for any celebration. Even if you aren’t celebrating, this restaurant offers weekly specials and a happy hour to enjoy. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone!
