Company Cafe

Lower Greenville, a quaint neighborhood during the day but bustling entertainment district by night, is home to trendy bistros and bars, a historic music venue in a 1940s art deco building, buzzing coffee shops, and many critically acclaimed restaurants. There are countless ways to spend your time in this 1.5 mile stretch down Dallas’s iconic Greenville Avenue.

I recently discovered Company Cafe & Bar in Lower Greenville, which specializes in clean comfort food at an affordable price. I was surprised to see that most menu items can be enjoyed as gluten-free versions of your favorite meals. There’s not even an upcharge for requesting gluten-free bread, pancakes, etc, making this restaurant accessible to those with food sensitivities. Likewise, there are plenty of vegetarian and vegan options as well!

My partner opted for a Green Belt smoothie, made with peaches, bananas, spinach, almond milk, apple juice, and collagen powder (to help with bone strength) and biscuits and gravy to start with. For brunch, she enjoyed the Hash & Go Sandy, a sandwich consisting of eggs, turkey sausage, hash browns, and cheddar served on burger buns.

I ordered the loaded sweet potato fries, a ginormous basket with sweet potato fries, cheddar, bacon, green onion, and jalapeños served with a side of ranch. You could easily split this started between 3-4 people! For breakfast, I tried the bananas foster pancakes with gluten-free pancake mix. These pancakes were topped with spiced rum sauce, banana slices, and whipped cream. Its resemblance to actual rum is uncanny!

If you’re running short on time and would prefer to grab a snack to go, Company Cafe and Bar does have a bakery case at the front entrance of the restaurant, with a variety of cupcakes, cake slices, cookies, and more! All desserts are 100% gluten-free. I tried the coconut tres leches cake, a German chocolate cake, a brownie, and a pecan pie. I would return to try all of these goodies again!!
