Brookside Café in Hurst is a hidden gem in the Mid-Cities area that can’t be missed if you enjoy great diner like food. Located off Bedford Road this spot is serving up delicious breakfast and lunch items daily from 7am-3pm.
We had never heard of this spot before, but after trying it recently it is sure to be a new favorite dining spot when were in the area. This place makes you feel right at home with their quaint and friendly environment. Their menu was packed with a variety of different dishes whether you were craving something sweet or savory. While we took some time to review our options our server provided us with great suggestions.
We finally decided on the turkey club, brookside cobb, chicken fried streak sandwich, and chicken fried steak and eggs. Everything was cooked to perfection and we couldn’t believe the portion sizes. The turkey club came pilled high with sliced oven roasted turkey, lettuce, tomatoes right onions, and mayo served with their delicious crispy fries. While the salad had fresh avocado, grilled chicken, iceberg lettuce, chopped bacon, hard boiled eggs, blue cheese, tomatoes and a tangy dressing. Both pieces of the chicken fried steak were huge and we loved the side of country gravy served with the sandwich. We also tried a side of their fresh pancakes that were huge in size and buttery flavor.
This place truly captured the idea of southern comfort from the kindness of our server to the hearty portions of the delicious food we received. This place was definitely worth the price and somewhere I would suggest to anyone in the area.
