When craving comfort food, Mexican cuisine instantly comes to mind. This Texas favorite restaurant is serving up delicious food and tasty margaritas in their beautiful hacienda style restaurants. I’m talking about Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant.
My friends and I decided to check this spot out when looking for a place to celebrate. Going during the week it was easy enough to grab a table for lunch. Their menu was large and packed with lots of dishes whether you were hoping for enchiladas, tacos, fajitas or more! We also loved that they featured a gluten sensitive portion of their menu since one of my friends has an allergy.
While we weren’t able to try any drinks on this visit, we loved that they had a weekly happy hour and look forward to returning soon because we enjoyed our food. For starters we grabbed a dip trio that came with creamy chili yellow queso, fresh guacamole, and a spicy diablo queso. I couldn’t pick a favorite of the three as they all had great flavor and paired well with the house-made chicarrones.
For my main entree I had to try their enchiladas that were highly recommended by our waiter. They offered so many different filling options whether you enjoyed meat or vegetarian and six different sauces. I ultimately decided on the chicken enchiladas with a tangy and bright green chili sauce that was a favorite amongst our group.
My friends noted that they also enjoyed their dishes and ordered a large stuffed burrito with the green chili sauce and a combination platter that came with rice, beans, a crispy taco, and enchilada.
All of our food was served hot and fresh. We also all commented on how large the portions were and for lunch it gave us plenty of food to take home. The ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant and we truly enjoyed the wonderful service.
