Looking for a new restaurant to dine at? What if I told you I have found a place that not only serves delicious food, but also gives back to their community? It may be hard to believe, but that is exactly what Taste Community Restaurant is doing. Recently opened in Arlington off Cooper Street, Taste is a nonprofit restaurant with a mission to feed its community.
This unique concept has recently opened in Arlington and I knew we had to check it out. What’s different about Taste compared to your traditional restaurant is that there are no prices on their menu. Say what? Yes, for this restaurant guests are asked to pay for what you can afford, pay for what you would typically pay, or pay a little extra and pass it forward to those who can’t.
Not only is the mission and purpose of this restaurant extremely encouraging, but the food was outstanding. Open for lunch from Wednesday to Sunday you can enjoy some incredible food. Ranging from more American delights like a strawberry salad to international cuisine of crispy chicken katsu with ginger cabbage slaw. Their menu has such a wide variety making it a fun place to visit for everyone.
On our fist trip here we tried the jollof rice that was extremely flavorful and tangy, a side salad that was perfectly dressed and had a great fresh flavor, and their stuffed chicken, bean and rice burrito. As you can see there was a lot of variety in the dishes served and everything was cooked to perfection. Since visiting for lunch a few weeks ago, they have already updated their menu with new interesting items. So it’s a fun place to visit as they are constantly cooking up something new.
I absolutely loved dining here as it was a great way to give back to my community all while enjoying a healthy and delicious meal. Since it’s a nonprofit you also receive a tax write-off for your purchase. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a new foodie restaurant or if you have come across hard times and can’t afford a meal.
